AGSA met with the Free State Legislature Presiding Officers to present anticipated audit outcomes for the financial year ended 31 March 2026.
The Auditor-General South Africa (AGSA) team met with the Free State Legislature Presiding Officers, led by Speaker Hon. Mxolisi Dukwana, to present the anticipated audit outcomes for the financial year ended 31 March 2026.
The engagement highlighted the province’s expected audit outcomes, progress made in responding to previous audit recommendations, and the critical role of oversight in strengthening accountability across provincial departments and municipalities. Discussions also focused on addressing the root causes of audit findings, improving financial and performance management, enforcing consequence management, and accelerating corrective actions to enhance governance and service delivery.
The session reaffirmed the shared commitment of AGSA and the Free State Legislature to promoting transparency, ethical leadership, sound financial management, and a culture of accountability that improves the lived realities of the people of the Free State.
AGSA also took the opportunity to congratulate the Free State Legislature on maintaining its unqualified audit opinion without findings. They also presented an award for the previous cycle’s audit outcome.
