The Free State Legislature convened on 23 April 2026 at Thabo Thokoza Secondary School in Bohlokong, Bethlehem, for the consideration of Departmental Budget Votes, bringing governance closer to communities.
The proceedings featured the tabling of budgets by Hon. E. Rockman, MEC for Agriculture, Rural Development and Environmental Affairs, and Hon. T.Z. Mokoena, MEC for Human Settlements.
The Budget Vote debate provides the Legislature with an opportunity to examine and approve departmental budgets, ensuring that public funds are allocated effectively to meet the developmental and service delivery needs of the people.
The Legislature continues to uphold its constitutional obligation of oversight over the executive by ensuring that departmental budgets are considered in a transparent and accountable manner, responsive to the needs and aspirations of the people of the Free State.
